An Act Respecting the Fisheries Bargaining Act and the Industrial Relations Act
His Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as follows:
Fisheries Bargaining Act
1 Subsection 15(3) of the Fisheries Bargaining Act, chapter F-15.01 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1982, is repealed and the following is substituted:
15( 3) If the Board is of the opinion that a fisherman has made application in writing for membership in a fishermen’s organization, the fisherman shall be deemed to be a member or member in good standing of that fishermen’s organization.
Industrial Relations Act
2( 1) Subsection 16(3) of the Industrial Relations Act, chapter I-4 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed and the following is substituted:
16( 3) If the Board is of the opinion that an employee has made application in writing for membership in a trade union, the employee shall be deemed to be a member or member in good standing of that trade union.
2( 2) The Act is amended by adding after section 136 the following:
Telegrams
136.1 A legal requirement that a notice or other document be delivered or served by telegram under this Act or the regulations is satisfied by delivering that notice or other document in writing.
Commencement
3 This Act comes into force on a day to be fixed by proclamation.
